2019 Small Business of the Year

Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa (Cerritos)

Mr. Ray Fas and family

Mr. Ray Fas has made a significant impact on the local Cerritos community as the small business owner of Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa. It’s been just over a year since the spa has opened and Mr. Fas has already supported numerous community events like the annual “ABC Fun Run/Walk,” which is held by the ABC Education Foundation – a local non-profit that supports student success by funding programs in the ABC Unified School District. His involvement doesn’t stop there; he is a hands-on business owner who takes his role in the community seriously.

Mr. Fas is a strong supporter of the Cerritos Regional Chamber of Commerce. “[We] have seen him [develop] into exactly the type of business owner that you would want to see in your community,” wrote Chamber director Scott Smith, “he is responsive to his customers, works closely with the community, and is respectful to the City.” He is a great employer who is always looking for ways to celebrate his employees and even grow his staff.

Honored on the Assembly Floor

In addition to hiring locally trained employees through his partnership with two local colleges, Cerritos College and Fremont College, he also partners with the ABC Unified School District to help provide career and technical education. Most importantly, he is active in providing equal opportunity positions for differently abled employees, both physical and behavioral wise.

The small business is really a family affair as they all help to run the spa and volunteer around the community, including with a veteran club called Friends of the 1st CEB Marine Battalion, which holds an annual fundraiser to offer financial support to the families of deployed marines.

It’s clear that Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa will be a fixture in the Cerritos community for many years to come – all due to Mr. Fas.
