Assemblymember Garcia Invites Public to Facebook Safety & Privacy Workshop on November 19

For immediate release:

(Artesia) – Tomorrow, Assemblymember Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens) will be convening a safety and privacy workshop, in her Assembly District, to discuss Facebook resources that are available to users.  Included, will be information on Facebook’s basic guiding principles, the use of privacy and security settings and safety resources for teens and parents in regards to bullying on Facebook.

“I am hosting this workshop with Facebook to help people better understand how to use social media safely and maximize the available privacy features.” said Garcia. “While many of us enjoy being connected, it is up to each of us to be proactive to protect ourselves and our families.”

As a warrior in the war against bullying, Assemblymember Garcia wrote an important new law that gives schools the authority to track down and discipline cyber bullies, who harass students using social media and other electronic communications.
