(Bell Gardens) -- Assemblymember Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens) has announced the launch of a new community recognition program, #Pride58. According to Garcia, the goal of the program is to tell our own stories and recognize individuals, businesses and community organizations making positive impacts within the 58th Assembly District; to honor those who inspire people, serve others and who do good without ever having been asked.
“We are looking to recognize the positive work being done in our community, often behind the scenes, that helps to improve the lives and the condition of our neighbors and fellow citizens,” Garcia said.
Starting Sunday October 19th, and every Sunday thereafter for a year, Assemblymember Garcia will award nominees with the #Pride58 Award to those who are selected by members of the community through her Assembly website and social media. Their inspirational story will be shared on social media through “Spotlight Sunday”. Anyone can nominate someone from the community by completing the nomination form on her assembly website.
All people/organizations/businesses in the 58th Assembly District - Artesia, Bellflower, Bell Gardens, Cerritos, Commerce, Downey, Pico Rivera, Montebello and Norwalk - are eligible for the award, but anyone irrespective of where they live can nominate. Assemblymember Garcia encourages people to nominate other co-workers, classmates, vendors the community interacts with on a daily basis, all who do a little extra to pitch in to empower the community.
To fill out a nomination from, please use Assemblymember Garcia’s website at: http://asmdc.org/members/a58/ and click the #Pride58 button on the homepage or call (562) 861-5803 for more information.
