(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens) has announced that her office is now accepting nominations for her “Women of the Year,” in each of the nine cities she represents in the 58th Assembly District.
Each March, in celebration of Women's History Month, the State Legislature honors women from across the state for their remarkable contributions to their communities.
For the fourth year, Assemblymember Garcia, Vice-Chair of both the California Legislative Women’s Caucus and the Commission on the Status of Women and Girls said she is excited to honor a recipient in each of her cities and highlight women who have made special contributions to their communities.
“It is exciting to honor deserving women, who do extraordinary work in their hometown communities. They are our unsung heroes who work tirelessly, expecting nothing in return and who deserve to be recognized for their efforts and service,” she said. “I encourage everyone to take part and recognize the achievements of women in your own communities by nominating an extraordinary woman.”
Nominees must live in the 58th Assembly District that includes the cities of Montebello, Pico Rivera, Commerce, Bell Gardens, Downey, Norwalk, Bellflower, Cerritos and Artesia.
Nominations are being accepted via mail, fax, e-mail or at Assemblymember Garcia’s website, http://asmdc.org/members/a58/other-resources/woman-of-the-year/woman-of-the-year and must be submitted by Friday, February 5th.
