(SACRAMENTO) – Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes (D-Corona) has been appointed as Chair of the Select Committee on Veteran Employment & Education by Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Paramount).
“As a member of a family of veterans, I understand that our veterans have sacrificed so much to keep our Nation strong and free,” Cervantes said. “We are committed to exceeding our responsibilities to ensure that we honor our veterans by providing the best educational opportunities and job placements that advance them towards a brighter future for a prosperous quality of life. I want to thank my friend, Speaker Rendon, for the honor of appointing me to lead this effort.”
The Select Committee on Veteran Employment & Education will examine the services available for veterans to assist them in acclimating to civilian life. It will also explore ways to improve those services, including those available to recent veterans who are returning home after service in the War on Terror.
“Many of our recent veterans have served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan,” Cervantes said. “We need to ensure that we provide for their needs in addition to our veterans of past wars.”
Sabrina Cervantes represents the 60th District of the California State Assembly, which encompasses the communities of Corona, Eastvale, Jurupa Valley, Norco, and a portion of the City of Riverside.
