Cervantes Secures $427 Million for Western Riverside County Roads and Infrastructure

For immediate release:

(SACRAMENTO) – Yesterday, Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes (D-Corona) voted in favor of the Road Repair & Recovery Act of 2017. The bill provides $5.2 billion per year to repair and rebuild California’s streets and highways. About $427 million will be allocated for local transportation projects in Western Riverside County.

“For too long, the roads of Western Riverside County have been neglected,” Assemblymember Cervantes said. “But after aggressive negotiations with Governor Jerry Brown and legislative leadership, I am proud to have secured a fair share of road and infrastructure repair funds for our community. The decision we have made to invest in our infrastructure now will help us avoid having future generations shoulder an insurmountable financial burden.”

“This was a difficult vote. But this historic and bipartisan legislation will create jobs, and ensure that Western Riverside County has functional roads, freeways, and bridges once again, ” Cervantes stated.

“For too long, the Inland Empire has been neglected, but no more because of the courageous action of Assemblymember Cervantes,” Governor Brown said. “She has fought hard and is delivering thousands of jobs and projects worth hundreds of millions of dollars to her community.”

"Assemblymember Cervantes provided critical leadership in voting for SB 1, the transportation plan that will fix our roads and invest in our infrastructure,” Allan Zaremberg, President of the California Chamber of Commerce said. “Ensuring we have a stable funding source to keep people and goods moving is key to a robust economy and job creation in Southern California and throughout the state."
