New Funding Moves Western Riverside County Forward

Western Riverside County residents have grappled with transportation problems and crumbling infrastructure for far too long. The passage of Senate Bill 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, ensures cities and counties will have the necessary funding to fix our roads.

70-80% of Southern California roads are in poor to mediocre condition. According to the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), California’s roads are currently graded a “C-”; left unchecked, existing conditions will only worsen. With SB 1, the budget for filling potholes and fixing local streets will nearly double for local governments in Riverside County.

SB 1 moves western Riverside County forward by bringing important benefits to the region—including transportation projects and more than half more than half a million shovel-ready jobs in construction, trades and supplies over the next 10 years a million shovel-ready jobs in construction, trades and supplies.

Investments are already being made in our communities. Each City Council and the County of Riverside has identified, reviewed and approved projects critical to improving streets, roads and bridges to increase safety, accessibility and alleviate traffic.
