(Sacramento) – As the legislature prepared to vote on a new state budget, Assemblymember Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens), Vice-Chair of the California Legislative Women’s Caucus, joined Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Paramount) and other legislators to discuss the inclusion of two of the Women’s Caucus’ priorities – increased funding for state-subsidized child care and repeal of the Maximum Family Grant rule – in the state spending plan. “We know that strengthening our early learning system is in the state’s best interest,” said Assemblymember Garcia. “The new budget includes a multi-year commitment to additional investment in state-subsidized childcare that will rise to $527 million by 2020,” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.
