Cervantes Joins Governor Brown at Senate Bill 130 Signing Ceremony in Jurupa Valley

For immediate release:

(SACRAMENTO) – Today, Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes (D-Corona) joined local elected officials and Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside) at Jurupa Valley City Hall to watch Governor Jerry Brown sign Senate Bill 130. SB 130 restores critical funding to the newly incorporated Riverside County cities of Eastvale, Jurupa Valley, Menifee, and Wildomar.

“This is a momentous day for the cities of Eastvale and Jurupa Valley,” said Assemblymember Cervantes. “With this funding restored, we can once again provide critical public safety services and the community benefit programs that our residents seek and deserve. I want to thank Senator Roth and Governor Brown for working with me to save our cities.”

“With this bill, millions of tax dollars will flow to benefit the people of Eastvale, Jurupa Valley, Menifee and Wildomar,” said Governor Brown. “Senator Roth and Assemblymember Cervantes pushed hard to ensure these communities weren’t left behind.”

Eastvale, Jurupa Valley, Menifee, and Wildomar all incorporated before the enactment of Senate Bill 89 in 2011. After SB 89, these four cities lost state funding that had been used to provide essential services including public safety and fire protection. With the enactment of SB 130, Eastvale is expected to receive $3 million in additional funding, while Jurupa Valley is expected to receive $6 million.

SB 130 went into effect immediately upon the Governor’s signature. More information about the bill can be found here.
