A cooling center provides an air-conditioned space for people to seek relief from increasing heat and is free and open to the public. There are many public pool areas and cooling centers within Riverside and San Bernardino Counties to help you and your family cool off.

Staying Safe from Extreme Heat
Help keep yourself safe during extreme heat events:
- Avoid physical exertion and excessive exercise.
- Drink plenty of fluids, even if you do not feel thirsty.
- Wear lightweight, loose clothing, as well as sunglasses and sunscreen.
- Check in on those at higher risk of heat-related illness, including infants and people 65 or older; people with chronic illnesses; and people who are pregnant.
- Monitor the local news for updated weather forecasts.
The Governor’s Office of Emergency Services also maintains tools and information on how to help protect you and your family during extreme weather events. In addition, you can sign up for notifications and alerts to help prepare for an emergency.
