Expanding Protections for Sexual Assault Victims

(Sacramento) – Sexual assaults on college campuses are an alarmingly common problem. Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes (D-Corona) wants to expand the law that protects communications between a sexual assault victim and their counselor to include counselors working at public universities and colleges. Assembly Bill 1896 would give communications between these on-campus counselors and student survivors the legal assurances of confidentiality.
