Denim Day Act of 2021 Advances to the Governor’s Desk

(SACRAMENTO) – Today, the Assembly approved Assembly Bill 939, the Denim Day Act of 2021 by Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes (D-Corona) by a bipartisan vote of 74-0. Assembly Approves Cervantes Bill to Decrease Barriers to Stepparent Adoption

Today, the Assembly approved Assembly Bill 746 by Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes (D-Corona) by a vote of 63-5. AB 746 will further reduce barriers to stepparent adoptions by clarifying that, in stepparent adoptions, the parties are not required to have been married or in a domestic partnership for a minimum period before the adoption.

(SACRAMENTO) – During Climate Week, Assembly Bill 639 by Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes (D-Corona) was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom. AB 639 initiates a stakeholder process to engage those most affected by California’s transition to a lower carbon economy at California’s largest seaports. In signing this bill, Governor Newsom becomes the first California governor to squarely take on the issue of a just transition for California workers.

California Creates $100 Million Hiring Tax Credit for Small Businesses

SACRAMENTO ­– Today, the Governor signed Senate Bill 1447 into law. This bill, authored jointly by Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena), Senator Anna Caballero (D-Salinas), and Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes (D-Corona), expands California’s assistance programs for small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic by establishing a new $100 million small businesses hiring tax credit program.
